Bail Payment Questions

Q: The defendant's case is over but there is still a balance, why do I have to pay it?

A: When you use a bail bondsman to post bail you are charged a premium as required by law. This amount must be collected; the bondsman offered a payment plan to accommodate your financial needs.

Q: The Defendant was only out on bail for a short time or was wrongly arrested, why should I have to pay the balance?

A: Just as in the first answer you must pay as prescribed by law. The premium is the price of freedom, if the defendant was wrongly arrested you may seek legal council to recover the funds from the wrong doer. The Bondsman was there in your time of need.

Q: Can I make an offer to pay off my balance for a lesser amount?

A: NO! It is against the law for a bondsman to discount Premium. He can be fined and or loose his license.

Q: I no longer have contact or a relationship with the defendant, why do I have to pay?

A: You signed a legal binding contract assuming responsibility to pay this debt.

Q: If I don't pay is there anything that can be done to me?

A: YOU WILL BE PLACED IN COLLECTIONS.  SUIT MAY BE FILED AGAINST YOU.
WAGES, GARNISHED, JUDGMENT ENTERED, PROPERTY LEINED AND IN SOME STATES CRIMINAL CHARGES FOR THEFT OF SERVICE MY BE BROUGHT AGAINST YOU.
